About the Department

The Department of Endoscopy performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for the examination and treatment of hollow organs and body cavities. These include esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD), colonoscopy, and bronchoscopy of the gastrointestinal and respiratory tracts.

The department also performs polyp removal, bleeding control, biopsy, stenting, bougienage (dilation), removal of foreign bodies, and other minimally invasive procedures, often under sedation (medically induced sleep).

Main Diagnostic Services:

• Initial consultation with an endoscopist;

• Follow-up consultation with an endoscopist;

• Total video colonoscopy;

• Total video colonoscopy + intravenous anesthesia (per procedure);

• Video esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD);

• Video EGD + intravenous anesthesia (per procedure);

• Video tracheobronchoscopy;

• Video tracheobronchoscopy + intravenous anesthesia (per procedure);

• Comprehensive Endoscopy Package (Video EGD + Total Video Colonoscopy + Intravenous Anesthesia; biopsy and Helicobacter pylori PCR not included);

• Video laryngoscopy;

• Video rectosigmoidoscopy;

• Intravenous anesthesia for endoscopic procedures (per procedure);

• Transbronchial intrapulmonary forceps/needle biopsy (cost of forceps and needles included);

• Therapeutic (sanitation) bronchoscopy;

• Diagnostic bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) collection;

• Removal of foreign bodies from the respiratory tract;

• Balloon dilation of cicatricial strictures of the upper GI tract;

• Balloon dilation of cicatricial strictures of the colon;

• Bougienage of esophageal strictures;

• Closure of gastrointestinal fistulas/anastomotic leaks (excluding cost of OVESCO device);

• Colorectal stenting (excluding cost of stent);

• Ligation of esophageal varices;

• Submucosal dissection of GI neoplasia (early cancer, dysplasia) — injector included;

• Resection of GI neoplasia — injector and snare included;

• Injection hemostasis for gastrointestinal bleeding — injector included;

• Esophageal stenting (stent cost included);

• Placement of intragastric balloons (balloon cost not included);

• Removal of intragastric balloons;

• Endoscopic gastrostomy placement (gastrostomy tube cost not included);

• Endoscopic polypectomy from one GI organ (Category I–II complexity);

• Endoscopic hemostasis (excluding consumables);

• ERCP with endoscopic papillotomy (EPST);

• ERCP with EPST and biliary stenting (Category I complexity; stent cost not included);

• ERCP with EPST and biliary stenting (Category II complexity; stent cost not included);

• ERCP with EPST and choledocholith extraction (Category I complexity);

• ERCP with EPST and choledocholith extraction (Category II complexity).

Equipment:

Diagnostic and therapeutic procedures are performed using premium-class equipment from leading Japanese, German, American, and Korean manufacturers.

Laboratory tests and diagnostics are carried out in the largest multidisciplinary laboratory in the Republic of Kazakhstan and Central Asia, recognized for its accuracy and rapid turnaround of results.
