National Hospital of the Medical Center of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Kazakhstan

Call center:

Department of Prevention and Social-Psychological Support

   About the Department:

The Department focuses on the early detection of socially significant diseases through scheduled vaccination programs, preventive medical examinations, and public health education (healthy lifestyle promotion and risk factor reduction). It also provides psychological assistance and support to individuals facing difficult life situations, helping them cope with stress, relationship challenges, adaptation to new conditions, and develop healthy lifestyle habits.

The department operates Health Schools, a psychologist’s office, and a geriatric office.

The life expectancy of our hospital’s patients has reached a maximum of 102 years. Currently, we have 10 patients over 100 years of age. The National Hospital has achieved this result thanks to the active work of a multidisciplinary team and continuity of care among specialists across all departments (outpatient clinic, inpatient department, emergency department, Department of Prevention and Social-Psychological Support, etc.).

A Geriatric Office operates within the hospital’s outpatient clinic, where a multidisciplinary team — including a general practitioner, internal medicine physician, geriatrician, preventive medicine and healthy lifestyle specialist, occupational pathologist, rheumatologist, and specialized physicians (surgeon, ophthalmologist, gynecologist, dentist) — provides diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases that develop or worsen with age, taking into account the specific characteristics of the elderly body.

As the risk of falls increases with age and is one of the leading causes of injury in people over 65, specialists in the department conduct fall prevention programs for elderly and senior patients to preserve physical strength and coordination.

All patients over 60 years of age are assessed using the Barthel Scale, which evaluates the degree of independence and daily activity across 10 basic activities (feeding, personal hygiene, bathing, dressing, bowel and bladder control, toilet use, transfers from bed, mobility, and climbing stairs).

Regular consultations are conducted with patients and their relatives. Family members and caregivers are trained in proper patient care and nutrition.

Considering the epidemiological situation in the country, scheduled vaccination programs are carried out among the population.

The department’s occupational health physician works to prevent professional diseases and improve employees’ health, conducting medical examinations to confirm professional fitness for work.

   Main Objectives of the Department:

  • Prevention: Early detection of oncological diseases and cardiovascular diseases; immunoprophylaxis; organization of scheduled vaccination programs.
  • Psychological Support: Psychological counseling for stress and low self-esteem; psychocorrection; trauma and crisis intervention.
  • Health Education & Healthy Lifestyle Promotion: Promotion of healthy living, proper nutrition, and physical activity through lectures, consultations, and Health Schools (such as the “Active Longevity School” and the “Healthy Lifestyle Formation Methods School”).
