MRI of the Future

The Radiology Department of the National Hospital performs rare examinations, including whole-body MRI for cancer screening and fast-protocol MRI for emergency cases. The first examination provides highly accurate diagnostics for oncological diseases, while the second delivers results in just four minutes, which is crucial during unplanned hospital admissions.

“In the future, examination times will become even shorter and accuracy will continue to improve,” said the head of the department, Candidate of Medical Sciences Magzhan Sadykov. “When I started my career, the equipment operated at only 2 tesla. Now, following the reconstruction of our hospital, we are preparing to launch a system with a capacity of 640.”

Magzhan Sadykov has worked in the profession for a quarter of a century. He was among the pioneers of artificial intelligence development in radiology in Kazakhstan. At the same time, he is convinced that AI will not replace radiologists but will instead make their work easier.

“Professionals will always be in demand. With experience, we can often understand a patient’s condition even without relying entirely on equipment. Unlike a machine, we can find the right words when delivering a diagnosis—not to drive a person into despair, but to motivate them toward treatment and recovery.
