Qualified specialist — high-quality diagnostics

Head of the MRI Department of the National Hospital Magzhan Sayynuly is one of the highly qualified specialists who has been passing on his professional experience to young doctors for many years. We talked to the doctor and asked him a few questions.

- MRI plays an important role in modern medicine. Surely the methods of diagnosing diseases also change in accordance with the requirements of the time?

"Absolutely. MRI is one of the most informative methods of diagnostic imaging. Thanks to the development of new technologies and scientific achievements, diagnostic capabilities are constantly being improved. Therefore, medical equipment is regularly updated. Previously, we worked on MRI scanners with a magnetic field strength of 0.2 Tesla, and today Almaty already uses MRI systems with a power of 3 Tesla. These devices allow you to get high-quality images, significantly improving the visualization of anatomical structures, and also reduce the study time. As part of the project, our National Hospital will be equipped with state-of-the-art medical technologies from the world's leading manufacturers, including 3 Tesla MRI and a 640-slice CT scanner.

— What diseases can MRI detect?

- MRI is one of the main and most effective methods of radiation diagnostics. It is used to detect pathologies and diseases of the brain and spinal cord, disorders of the nervous system, as well as soft tissue and joint injuries. Lung diseases and diseases of the bone system are usually diagnosed by radiography and computed tomography.

— Are there any statistics on cancer in our country? In particular, what is the situation with the incidence of breast cancer? Is it growing or declining?

— According to available data, breast cancer remains one of the most common cancer diseases among women. Colon, esophageal, stomach and lung cancers are also widespread in our country. Over the past ten years, these diseases are increasingly detected in young people. The State pays special attention to the early detection and treatment of cancer. In recent years, the number of detected cases has increased due to improved diagnostic methods and expanded screening programs. This allows you to detect the disease at an early stage and start treatment in a timely manner.

— You have been working in the field of oncology for 22 years. Do you have any students?

— For more than twenty years I have been combining practical work with teaching. I am an associate professor of the Department of Radiology of the Kazakh-Russian Medical University. Over the years, I have managed to train many young professionals. Today, most of them work in different regions of our country and have become experienced radiologists. I am truly happy and proud of their success. It is important for me not only to treat patients, but also to pass on my knowledge and professional experience to the next generation of doctors. In the National Hospital, I am not only the head of the department, but also a mentor of the first category.

— What is your main principle as a doctor?

— My main principle is to constantly strive for new knowledge and improve myself both in life and in medicine. A doctor should never stop learning and develop professionally. It should always be remembered that patients need not only high-quality medical care, but also support, attention and human involvement from the doctor.
