Without renovation, there can be no progress in medical treatment

The announcement of a large-scale modernization of one of the country’s oldest clinics, located in the center of Almaty, has drawn significant attention from leading figures in the medical community. Academician and one of Kazakhstan’s leading gynecologists and reproductive medicine specialists, Vyacheslav Lokshin, shared his opinion:

“Every clinic undergoes reconstruction and modernization at some point in its history; this is a global practice. Without renovation, there can be no progress in medical treatment, because new technologies require different utilities, facilities, and equipment. It is simply impossible to accommodate them in outdated buildings.
I have reviewed the condition of the hospital affectionately known by many as ‘Sovminka.’ Unfortunately, the building has become deteriorated and poses certain risks, yet it is still a hospital where people receive medical care. The facilities were built in the 1950s, and since then medicine has changed dramatically. Modern healthcare has become highly technological, flexible, and resource-intensive, requiring an entirely different infrastructure. I say this as a physician.
I believe the modernization of the National Hospital will be completed efficiently and will create new opportunities for further development of such advanced medical fields as cardiac surgery and neurosurgery, for which the hospital’s doctors are well known. Most importantly, the new hospital will be built on the same site as the existing one.”
Без реновации клиники не будет прогресса в лечении
