“I am very interested in arteriovenous malformations of the brain, brain aneurysms, endovascular treatment of stenoses of the vessels of the brain and neck, basal brain tumors, including endoscopic treatment of pituitary adenoma, as well as microsurgical treatment of spinal tumors,” says neurosurgeon of the National Hospital Abzal Zhumabekov.
Abzal Kairatuly is one of the qualified specialists who took part in the KAZNEURO neurosurgical discussion course. Neurosurgeons and neurointerventists from Kazakhstan and foreign countries took part in the event, which is organized on an ongoing basis by one of the founders of the neurosurgical department of the National Hospital Berdikhozhaev Mynzhylky Sailauovich. This year, the scientific meeting was held for the tenth time and brought together doctors from different regions of the country, as well as from the Kyrgyz Republic, Uzbekistan, Germany and other states. The head of the hospital A.Z. Bralov noted the importance of the conference and wished the participants success in their work. During the event, a woman also spoke, who, thanks to the help of specialists in this area, was able to return to a full life and become a mother, expressing gratitude to neurosurgeons led by M. Saylauovich. The conference participants paid special attention to diseases of the cerebral vessels, migraines and epilepsy.
During a neurosurgical discussion of Mynzhylky, Sailauovich demonstrated a high-tech innovative operation live from the operating room, which only recently began to be used in world practice. In turn, Sarshaev Marat Amangalievich also performed a minimally invasive operation using brain endoscopy in a live broadcast format. This is proof of the high level of neurosurgery in our country and compliance with international standards. At the conference, M. Berdikhozhaev, M. Sarshaev, M. Mirzakhmetov and Sh. Makhanbetkhan presented reports based on the clinical experience of the department.
“First of all, at the current conference I saw new methods, innovative approaches to complex operations and the experience of leading world centers. I myself gave a presentation on the recently implemented operation methodology and was a moderator in two sections. These two days were a very useful meeting for us, which allowed us to deepen practical experience and expand knowledge. One of the most pressing problems today is the quota for operations related to the narrowing of the vessels that feed the brain. Recently, due to the significant increase in prices of stents used in the market, endovascular treatment has become inaccessible to patients. Making systemic decisions in this direction should become a common goal for the entire industry,” says neurosurgeon A. Zhumabekov.
The doctor also noted an increase in the number of strokes in recent years. Compared to the 2000s, the total number of neurosurgical patients has also increased. The main reasons are the development of medical technologies: today it has become possible to effectively treat complex patients who were previously considered impossible, as well as improve early diagnosis and screening. In this regard, the number of patients in need of neurosurgical care continues to grow steadily, – A. Zhumabekov notes.
