Diabetic retinopathy is a disorder of the retina of the eye caused by an increase in blood sugar levels. The reticular membrane is the inner membrane of the eye, which allows us to perceive light and see around us. But when blood sugar levels are high enough for a long time, it damages the cell’s small blood vessels.
Who is it dangerous?

If diabetes mellitus lasts more than 5-10 years, blood sugar levels are not monitored and high, hypertension (high blood pressure), overweight, high blood cholesterol, frequent smoking, alcohol consumption, insomnia, fatigue, prolonged use of a mobile phone, ophthalmologist absolutely necessary if not, the risk increases.
Can vision be preserved?
– The main thing is to monitor blood sugar levels! Measure pressure and cholesterol, keep them normal. If you smoke, quit! Be examined by an ophthalmologist at least once a year. If the doctor has prescribed treatment, do not be late! Diabetic retinopathy is the most severe complication of diabetes mellitus. It can be asymptomatic, but can progress at any time. The only way to preserve vision is a systematic examination and control of diabetes, – said Zh. Tazhidinova.
