In connection with the change in autumn weather, they “begin to wake up” with respiratory viral infections (ARVI). The most common of these is the flu. Influenza is a rapidly spreading infectious disease. From the infectious disease doctor of the highest category of the National Hospital Saule Kazhygalievna Shagmanova, we received a number of information about the flu.
– There are four types of seasonal influenza viruses: Type A, B, C and Type D. Influenza viruses A and B are classified into subspecies, spreading among humans and causing a seasonal epidemic of disease.
Influenza and acute respiratory viral infections are transmitted by airborne droplets from a person infected with the virus. When a patient coughs, speaks or falls, mucus with mucous droplets and viruses enters the surrounding air, says Saule Kazhgalievna.
Most often get the flu:
Elderly people, children of preschool and school age, workers in education, health care, trade and other service sectors, pregnant women, persons with weakened immune systems or with diabetes mellitus, heart disease or chronic respiratory diseases.
Influenza prevention measures:
Do not visit crowded places. Wear medical masks when visiting public transport, medical facilities and other public places. Spend more time outdoors – daily walks strengthen the immune system, improve sleep and cardiovascular function. It is also important to strictly observe personal hygiene, – says infectious disease specialist Saule Shagmanova.
