The results of joint scientific work under the leadership of Professor Abduzhappar Gaipov and young scientists – researchers of Nazarbayev University and neurosurgeons of the National Hospital of the UDP of the Republic of Kazakhstan on the topic:
“The Incidence, Mortality, and Survival Trends of Pancreatic Cancer in Kazakhstan: Data from the National Electronic Registry of Oncological Patients (2014–2023)”

Co-authors of the study include Abzal Zhumabekov, a neurosurgeon and member of the Council of Young Specialists at the National Hospital.
The article was published in the prestigious international journal Cancers (special issue of Clinical Epidemiology and Risk Prediction for Gastrointestinal Cancers), one of the leading scientific publications in the field of oncology.
The study showed that pancreatic cancer is one of the five leading causes of cancer mortality in Kazakhstan. For the period 2014-2023, there was an increase in morbidity and mortality, while the five-year survival rate was only 10.9%. The work highlights the need to improve early diagnosis and improve the effectiveness of cancer care in the country.
