Surgeons from the National Hospital of the Presidential Administration’s Medical Center performed a three-hour operation on a patient at the Taldykorgan City Multidisciplinary Hospital. The operation to remove a giant diaphragmatic esophageal hiatus hernia was carried out under a memorandum between the clinics.
This is already the third trip of the clinic’s doctors to Taldykorgan. The first visit to Taldykorgan hospital brought a whole team of specialists from the national hospital, as well as their colleagues from the Medical Center Hospital of the Presidential Administration of Astana. They performed operations, gave lectures, and exchanged experience with colleagues.

There are many patients with the problem our patient faced. During the pandemic, the woman had COVID-19, and she had a severe cough. The diaphragm tore, causing its rupture, and the esophageal hiatus increased in diameter. Any stress on the patient caused an increase in intra-abdominal pressure, and under pressure, the stomach moved into the pleural cavity. During the operation, it was evident that 80 percent of the stomach had shifted into the chest cavity. Laparoscopic fundoplication according to Toupet with cruroplasty lasted about three hours. The patient was discharged on the fifth day in satisfactory condition.
According to Estay Abzalbek, the equipment at the Taldykorgan City Hospital is one of the most modern, allowing doctors to perform serious, large-scale operations.
