On April 12, Kazakhstan celebrates Science Workers Day. Candidate of Medical Sciences, doctor of the highest category, advisor to the director Zhanara Kusimzhanova spoke about how scientific research in the field of medicine contributes to the further development of healthcare in Kazakhstan, and what steps are being taken to strengthen the role of science in the National Hospital of the MC UDP of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The National Hospital employs 30 highly qualified specialists with an academic degree, including 1 Doctor of Medical Sciences, 4 PhD Doctors, 24 Candidates of Medical Sciences and 1 Candidate of Philological Sciences. In addition, two graduates of the international training program abroad «Bolashak» work within the walls of the hospital.
Hospital doctors publish the results of their research in leading international journals indexed in databases «Web of Science» and «Scopus». This confirms the high scientific potential of the institution and its constant desire to develop evidence-based medicine.
“The connection between medicine and science is not just an important, but a vital aspect for progress in the healthcare sector,” says Zhanara Kusymzhanova. “Scientific research has become the basis of clinical achievements; it contributes to the introduction of innovative methods for diagnosing, treating and preventing diseases. Science empowers doctors to make informed decisions based on evidence and develop personalized medicine that takes into account the unique characteristics of each patient.
“We are actively promoting therapeutic, diagnostic and management innovations at all levels of medical care – from outpatient care to therapeutic and surgical services,” continues the director’s adviser. “This approach allows us to remain among the leading medical institutions in the country. One of the significant innovations is tubular ileostomy technology, used after reconstructive operations on the rectum. The technique was first implemented in Kazakhstan by surgeons at the National Hospital and to date several operations have already been successfully performed using it.
