Today is a significant holiday in the life of the country – Republic Day. If you look at the history of this date, then on October 25, 1990, the Declaration of Sovereignty of Kazakhstan was adopted. In this regard, October 25, 1995 was declared a national holiday – Republic Day, and in December 2001 it was given the status of “State Holiday.”
However, in April 2009, Republic Day celebrations were suspended and priority was given to Independence Day.
At a meeting of the National Founder in June 2022, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan K. Tokayev proposed to restore the celebration of Republic Day and return it to the status of “National Holiday.”
– Republic Day should become a symbol of the historical step of the country towards the formation of the State. Of course, the original meaning of Independence Day will be preserved. This day remains a holiday. We should celebrate the Day of Remembrance of the heroes who made a great contribution to independence, – said K. Tokayev.
Republic Day is a holiday symbolizing the unity and harmony of the country. Kazakhstan is a multinational state in which representatives of more than 130 ethnic groups live. It is thanks to unity and harmony that our country overcomes various difficulties. This day is a special holiday for every citizen. Happy Republic Day, compatriots!
