As part of a memorandum with the National Center for Neurosurgery, joint master classes were again held at the National Hospital. This time, the capital’s neurosurgeons Talgat Kerimbaev and Chingiz Nurimanov carried out stereotactic installation of DBS for the treatment of Parkinson’s disease and laminoplasty. During the first operation, the patient was implanted with a thin electrode in the brain and a neurostimulator under the skin on the chest, so that the implantable machine sends electrical impulses to modulate abnormal brain activity and help reduce tremors, stiffness and seizures.
During the second operation, doctors widened the spinal canal to relieve pressure on the spinal cord and nerves. Reconstruction of the vertebral arches preserved the bone structure and stability of the spine.
The invited specialists highly appreciated the professionalism of the hospital’s neurosurgeons and, most importantly, the desire to learn new things. An engineer from China Guo worked with them, who installed special equipment:
– It was very comfortable to work on the operation, neurosurgeons immediately grabbed the information and applied it. I hope that these new technologies will eventually be used not only in Astana and Almaty, but also in other regions of Kazakhstan.
– Now there is a tendency of minimally invasive operations in all spheres of medicine, with low access, the use of neuronavigation, and most likely this will continue to develop, – neurosurgeon Talgat Kerimbaev made a forecast for the future, – Now robots are actively used in operations on the brain and spinal cord, more modern devices will be used that allow non-surgical removal of neoplasms and tumors, this will minimize the risk of surgical interventions as for a patient and facilitate the work of doctors.
