I am very afraid of anesthesia

   The network is now actively discussing the conspiracy side of anesthesia, arguing about the harbingers of care, life on the other side, tunnels, dreams. They asked the famous anesthesiologist of our Hospital Nikolai Reingold about this, after all, he has been in intensive care for 43 years.

   – I will disappoint you, but I have never heard from those whom I reanimated, about tunnels and otherworldly life. A miracle is medicine itself and its achievements, in my practice there were cases when, according to all indicators, on monitors and external, a person should have left, but he survived.

   – Do anesthesiologists believe in God?

   – Deeply religious resuscitators didn’t meet. Anesthesiology is the art of healing, much depends on experience, intuition, speed, knowledge, development, here study never ends. But from the fact that medicine is increasingly becoming a science, it does not cease to be art.

   The doctor could not name any special case from his practice, since for him all patients and their stories are important.

   – Anesthesiologists create conditions for surgery. If you remove them from hospitals, then there will be exercise therapy, functional diagnostics and a clinic, everything else can be safely closed. And, nevertheless, we stay aside, we are seen at the beginning and then forgotten, between the attending physician. But I take this calmly, the patient enters surgery in order to be operated on, not anesthetized. No one comes to the hospital with a request to do anesthesia.

   – How can fear of resuscitation be overcome?

   – Being afraid of surgery is normal, I myself am very afraid of anesthesia, it’s like a small death. But, nevertheless, I try to support my patients, I do not give one hundred percent guarantees even in the conditions of modern medicine, but it is also impossible to leave the patient without hope, so I promise that I will do my best and will be there from the beginning to the end of the operation. However, the patient himself must tune in to a positive outcome, this helps doctors a lot.
