February 9 is International Dentist Day. In 249, it was on this day that the Christian Apollonia of Alexandria was executed after prolonged torture. She withstood all the torment for the sake of her faith and, before being executed at the stake, she herself jumped into the fire with the attributes of tormentors with teeth and tongs.
