Malignant breast neoplasm – develops from breast cells. It is the leading cause of all malignancies in women, and almost half of them end tragically. According to statistics, about one in ten women in developed countries face this pathology. In Kazakhstan, about 5 thousand cases of breast cancer and more than a thousand deaths are registered annually. This is evidenced by the doctor of a healthy lifestyle of the National Hospital Flyura Smailova:
– Most often, a tumor develops in women over 40 years old, but it can appear at an early age. It occurs even in young women aged 18 to 20 years. A high risk of developing breast cancer in women such as: in close relatives – mother, grandmother, aunt with breast or ovarian cancer and hormonal imbalance, early onset of menopause or late arrival of menopause.
Most breast tumors are not cancerous. If caught early, they should be treated immediately, as they can subsequently develop into cancer.
For more than 10 years, Kazakhstan has been implementing a national screening program for women for early detection of breast cancer. Women aged 40 to 70 will be screened free of charge at a local health clinic. If detected early, treatment will be 95% successful. Relatively simple and painless methods are used to detect breast cancer. Ultrasound is used in women under the age of 35 or if it is necessary to clarify the diagnosis. Mammography is an X-ray examination of the mammary glands. All women over 40 are appointed once every two years. It is recommended to have a mammogram from the 5th to 12th day of the menstrual cycle. A biopsy is a microscopic examination of breast tissue to determine the nature of the changes and confirm the diagnosis.
Any disease is easy to prevent or identify earlier, and in the case of oncology it is very important. Recommendations that all women must know: once a year to visit a mammologist and gynecologist, undergo screening and mammogram in accordance with age, engage in daily physical education, maintain normal weight and refuse alcohol and smoking. Breast cancer is not a sentence!
