In Almaty, cases of brucellosis and a rare autoimmune disease Guillain-Barré syndrome have become more frequent. Neuropathologists detect diseases.
The symptoms of brucellosis can be varied and resemble the flu, and Guillain-Barré syndrome with flaccid paresis, sensory disorders, autonomic disorders.
– In Western countries, the incidence is about 0.89 – 1.89 cases per year per 100 thousand inhabitants, – said neuropathologist Laura Kuttykbaeva, – The risk of the disease increases by about 20% with each decade of life: it is more likely in adults and the elderly. In men, it occurs 1.78 times more often than in women. People come with symptoms of neurological diseases, like weakness in the limbs, back pain, shoulders, pelvic girdle, an increase or drop in blood pressure, and then with the help of tests and diagnostics we identify these diseases.
Doctors call viral infections, covid, influenza as the cause of Guillain-Barre syndrome, and brucellosis is transmitted through non-pasteurized milk and meat. They recommend monitoring health during the period of seasonal morbidity and being careful with the intake of now fashionable eco-products.
