On February 15, operating medical sisters celebrate their professional holiday. In medicine, they are a special caste, assistant surgeons, generals in operating rooms, since they are responsible for sterility, comfort, efficiency. They are distinguished by discipline, stress resistance, empathy. Nurse Natalya Aldashkina at the National Hospital for 32 years, “stands,” as she says in the operating room, for a quarter of a century.
– We have a lot of such veterans like me, this is not heroism, but work, – Natalya Vladimirovna is modest, – Although the work, of course, is difficult, my son categorically went to another area, having seen enough of my duty. You need to work according to your vocation, and then everything will work out. And even more so in medicine.
Last year, Natalya Aldashkina herself got on the operating table, admitted that at first she tried to command the process out of habit until she was stopped. I had to provide assistance outside of work, this profession does not have time restrictions.
– It is important to show humanity in our profession. You always need to say hello, be friendly and reassure the patient. It’s hard for a person, he is afraid, and if I talk dryly, it will be even more difficult for him. Say a good word, smile, stroke the handle – and the patient will calm down, it will be easier for the surgeon to operate. I experienced this care when I was on the operation and immensely grateful to colleagues for how they pulled me out.
The National Hospital employs 22 operating nurses, all of whom have their own focus – 4 of them in neurosurgery, 5 in cardiology, 3 in surgery and 11 in the operating unit.
