Innovations in Health Screenings in Kazakhstan

In Kazakhstan, employers will be required to allow employees to attend medical screenings. President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev signed the law “On Amendments and Additions to Certain Legislative Acts of Kazakhstan Regarding the Improvement of Labor Legislation.”

Under the new regulations, medical organizations will notify companies through digital services when an employee needs to undergo a medical examination. Upon receiving such a notification, management must provide the employee with time to attend the screening.

Since the beginning of this year, the list of preventive medical examinations has also been expanded. Citizens can now receive free screenings for cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, glaucoma, cancer, and hepatitis. In addition, stroke screening is being introduced for men aged 50 and older. The eligible age range for medical screenings has also been extended by six years, from 30–70 years to 30–76 years.

Thanks to these screenings, specialists at the National Hospital identified 99 cases of arterial hypertension, 17 cases of ischemic heart disease, 16 cases of diabetes mellitus, 25 oncological diseases, and 67 cerebrovascular diseases last year. This means that patients can begin treatment in a timely manner and prevent the development of severe illnesses through preventive examinations.

Health is also a shared responsibility. When the state provides an opportunity to undergo a medical examination while preserving salary, it is wise to take advantage of it. All necessary information can be obtained from your primary care physician.
